Abstract:
A flotation plant for treating phosphate ore in Yunnan Province has a throughput of 2 million T/a. It is very motivated that the core competitiveness of enterprises was improved by increasing production and reducing energy consumption. The experiments were performed at a lab and the results proved that the grinding performances and efficiency were improved by using steel ball as grinding medium and by decreasing the particle size of feeding to the grinding. Based on the results obtained at a lab, tests were carried out in the plant. The results showed that the size distribution ratios were obviously changed and the grinding capacity increased by about 28.80% using the steel ball as grinding media. The grade of P2O5 and MgO in the concentrate reached 29.81% and 1.32% respectively, in the subsequent flotation operation, and the recovery of P2O5 was 85.53%. The obtained concentrate could meet the production requirements. After the technical reformation, the unit power consumption of grinding is reduced by about 17.64%, which indicated that the performance of reducing energy consumption was obvious.
